Physicochemical Properties: It is a purple red crystal of monoclinic system. It's easy in moisture absorption. Melting point:60?. It will be decompose at 125.5?. The chromium nitrate monahydrate can be easily dissolved in water, alcohols and acetone, acids. Its aqueous solution is green when heated, turn into reddish-purple rapidly after cooling. It has a property of rot, and it can burn our skin. It will burn once in contact with easy combustion things.
Applications and Usages: The major applications of chromium nitrate include preparation of other inorganic or organic chromium, catalysts and carrier materils, corosion inhibitors and dye mordant as well as colorant in glass industry and colored glzae of ceramics.

Health hazard: harmful by inhalation, irritating and burning respiratory tract. Irritating to eyes and skin, can cause burns. It is allergic to skin. The digestive tract was burned by oral administration. When heated, it decomposes and emits nitrogen oxides and chromium fumes.
Environmental hazard: it is harmful to the environment and may cause pollution to the water body.
Explosion hazard: the product is combustion supporting, toxic and suspicious carcinogen.
First aid measures
Skin contact: take off contaminated clothes immediately and rinse with plenty of flowing water for at least 15 minutes. See a doctor.
Eye contact: lift eyelids immediately and rinse thoroughly with plenty of flowing water or normal saline for at least 15 minutes. See a doctor.
Inhalation: quickly leave the scene to fresh air. Keep respiratory tract unobstructed. If you have difficulty breathing, give oxygen. If breathing stops, give artificial respiration immediately. See a doctor.
Ingestion: gargle with water and drink milk or egg white. See a doctor.
Fire fighting measures
Hazard characteristics: when contacting or mixing with organics, reducing agents and inflammables such as sulfur and phosphorus, it may cause combustion and explosion. In case of high thermal decomposition, high toxic smoke is released.
Harmful combustion products: nitrogen oxides.
Fire fighting method: Firefighters must wear full body fire and gas protective clothing and put out the fire upwind. When putting out the fire, move the container from the fire site to the open area as far as possible. Then according to the cause of the fire, choose the appropriate extinguishing agent to put out the fire
Leakage emergency treatment
Emergency treatment: isolate the contaminated area and restrict access. Cut off the fire. It is suggested that emergency treatment personnel should wear dust masks and anti-virus clothing. Do not touch the leakage directly.
Small leakage: cover with dry sand, vermiculite or other inert materials. Collect in a closed container with a clean shovel.
Large amount of leakage: collect and recycle or transport to waste treatment site for disposal.
Handling and storage
Operation precautions: closed operation, provide sufficient local exhaust. Prevent dust from releasing into the air of the workshop. Operators must be specially trained and strictly abide by the operating procedures. It is suggested that operators should wear dust mask (full face mask), one-piece rubber gas jacket and rubber gloves. Keep away from fire and heat source. No smoking in the workplace. Keep away from flammable and combustible materials. Avoid dust. Avoid contact with reducing agent. Fire fighting equipment of corresponding variety and quantity and leakage emergency treatment equipment shall be provided. Empty containers may contain harmful substances.
Storage precautions: store in a cool and ventilated warehouse. Keep away from fire and heat source. Keep out of direct sunlight. The package is sealed. It should be stored separately from reducing agent, combustible materials and edible chemicals, and mixed storage should be avoided. Fire fighting equipment of corresponding variety and quantity shall be provided. The storage area should be equipped with suitable materials to contain the leakage
